How to Plan a Great Vacation

Making ensuring your trip goes as planned is not difficult, but it does need careful planning.

First, select where you want to travel. This year, I've chosen to spend my holiday in Holland. Once you've chosen where you'd want to go on vacation, you can start planning what you'd like to see and do. The Van Gogh Museum, the Rembrandt Museum, and the Casino all pique my curiosity in Holland.

I've always liked casinos, and this will be my first opportunity to visit one in Europe, so how can I pass up the opportunity to play some European Roulette, which I've been practicing at an online casino, well, I have to confess I've also been "practicing" poker and blackjack, don't tell my wife.

Once you've decided where you want to travel and what you want to do while there, you may get a sense of where you want your hotel to be.

There are many websites that provide the greatest hotel rates, so be sure to check several of them before making a final choice. The majority of these websites will provide images of the hotel's amenities and various rooms.

After reviewing the hotels, choose the best three and do an online search for them. Look for reviews from individuals who have previously been there. The hotel's website will constantly tell you how wonderful it is, but if someone is irritated enough to trash a place or tell you how great it is, you can be fairly confident they are giving you the truth.

The first hotel I looked at for my Amsterdam trip claimed it was near to the city center and in a good neighborhood, but reading reviews from previous guests informed me the area was packed with drug users and homeless, which is not what I want to see on my holiday, so I found a much better location. It is a bit farther from the city center, but it is close to the museums we want to see, so by being closer to them, we can wake up early and walk to the museums, then spend the rest of the day strolling about the city center, looking at the stores and attractions.

All that remains is to pack the appropriate clothing. Unless you're traveling somewhere where the weather is usually consistent, pack clothing for both good and poor weather. My vacation is in a week, and the weather is predicted to be mainly sunny and in the 50s, but there is a possibility of rain, so I'll bring a raincoat and extra socks just in case.

If you are traveling to Europe and want to visit a casino, you should be aware that European casinos are more upmarket than those in the United States. They won't allow you in if you're wearing shorts, a T-shirt, and sandals; most casinos demand males to wear a tie, jacket, or turtleneck.

It is also a good idea to get a travel guide for wherever you are visiting. Aside from providing useful suggestions for things to do and places to dine, several of them provide attraction discounts.

So all that remains is for me to go out and have a nice time, which I am certain I will do.
